Hello, I'm Anne Hill, I am passionate about recycling. In 2017, after a break from a career in industry and higher education, I turned my hobby into a business and set up TLChic in the beautiful setting of Drumlanrig Castle Studios to sell some of my vintage china, chalk painted furniture and home accessories.
In November 2019 I opened up Artisan & Vintage, with a fellow entrepreneur in another lovely location near Buccleuch Street Bridge, on the Whitesands, Dumfries.
I also hire out vintage china and props for weddings, parties, afternoon tea, birthdays, christening, 21st birthdays, baby and wedding showers - any occasion where you want to make the setting extra special.
Products and projects
Most things can be recycled. The current craze for chalk painting has led to lots of interest in reviving and extending the life of many lovely old pieces of furniture and home accessories. As well as being incredibly satisfying it is also very environmentally friendly to extend the lifespan of furniture, other household goods and some beautiful shabby chic, vintage and retro accessories. If you are looking special piece of furniture or a gift in a shabby chic, vintage or retro style please contact me at our shop Artisan & Vintage, Dumfries.
SinceI have moved premises, you can also find a small selection of my stock at
Studio 5, Drumlanrig Castle Stableyard , Thornhill. This premises are normally open seasonally Easter - October.
Many customers have enjoyed looking round the new shop in Dumfries and commented on the beautiful vintage china, linens and furniture at the studio. They have often shared their stories and memories of the china which their mothers and grandmothers used to have. I love meeting customers and it has been lovely to hear those stories and share my experiences, tips and techniques.
Creative workshops are planned for Spring and Autumn. Please contact the shop for details.
NB please note that due to Corona Virus we are temporarily closed and hope to open again once restrictions are lifted- thanks you for your patience during this time
